Public comments deadline Oct. 31, 2022, on updated Folsom Lake SRA Trails Plan

10/6/2022

Picture
Below is the email sent out to the public this week regarding the updated Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Draft Road and Trail Management Plan and the deadline for public comments.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE SEVERAL CHANGES TO ADD BIKES AND EBIKES TO THE PIONEER EXPRESS NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL. Mother Lode Trails is against adding fast moving bikes and eBikes to any part of the existing Pioneer Express National Historic Trail. There is also a plan to change one section to alternate days for horses/hikers and bikers, a plan that has never worked in any other State Park. Once added, the bikes ride every day.  Adding bikes to mix with slow moving walkers will dramatically alter the quiet passive Pioneer Express National Historic Trail experience. Bikes will not stay on the short sections to be allowed, there is nothing to stop them from riding and impacting the complete length. There is no requirement in the Plan to increase Ranger presence or enforcement of rules on the Pioneer Express.
YOU MAY COMMENT AND EXPRESS YOUR CONCERN ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE AND DANGER TO EXISTING TRAIL USERS ADDING FAST BIKES TO THIS  NARROW TRAIL.
