In an area used by commercial mt. bike shuttle companies, such as Yuba Expeditions and Downieville Outfitters, the Tahoe National Forest is heading up funding and building a new 16-mile non-motorized trail. One comment letter from the Downieville area's motorcyclists protesting the restriction to non-motorized, "This project gives the appearance of being specifically for mt. biking." This is will officially be a non-motorized multi-use trail, meaning open to hikers, horses and mt. bikes. In a question - answer period with one of the Nevada County representatives, the equestrian group responded said they haven't used that area since the fast bikes made it too dangerous and they will not be using the new trail.
