The Forest Service announced Thursday that Wednesday's prescribed burn in the American River District of the Tahoe National Forest was postponed until further notice due to unfavorable fuel conditions. Fuels Specialist Larry Peabody said the burn, which included work on Humbug Ridge, about 4 miles west of Alta, was called off because of rain and ensuing wet conditions on the ground.
