As for a coyote that shows no fear of humans, this is normally the sign of an injured, rabid or sick animal. There is an exception when a coyote has become inured to humans by proximity, especially when fed. DO NOT FEED ANY COYOTES OR WILDLIFE. For the past three years, there is one coyote seen frequently on the North Fork Ditch trail who is unafraid of horses and humans, but this coyote is non aggressive and stays about 50 feet away.
Coyotes can be rabid, and if any coyote shows any aggression and attacks you, BE AWARE THAT IF A RABID COYOTE BITES YOU, YOU MAY HAVE CONTRACTED RABIES. Call 9-1-1 to alert law enforcement of the location of the rabid animal and Immediately seek medical treatment.
