FREE Horse Camping in the Bucks Lake Basin, Plumas National Forest FOR A LIMITED TIME (Regularly $23 a night)
The Plumas National Forest has converted several campsites of the White Horse Campground for a TRIAL use for equestrian camping. Camping will be allowed on a trial basis, after the Labor Day weekend, on September 8th through the month of October, when the campground closes for the winter.
Our goals is to get the word out that camping with horses is now available in the Bucks Lake Area (at least on a trial basis, and hopefully if the desire is there on a permanent basis in the future).
The Bucks Lake area has many trails and access to the Bucks Lake Wilderness Area from the Whitehorse Campground.
There are many trails and amenities available in the Bucks Lake Basin and Trail Maps are available.
We hope that equestrians will take advantage of this opportunity to horse camp and ride the trails and maybe even take advantage of the local services. I know this is short notice, but it is a great opportunity, please try to take advantage of this opportunity.
