An accomplished mountain bike racer the Ghidotti ECHS senior is a varsity rider for the Nevada Union Miner Mountain Bike team and says environmental sustainability will remain a focus in his college career including building and maintaining forest trails for all users. Liam has put countless hours into our local trails on his own maintaining and scouting downed trees and washouts on the Bullard’s Bar trail system and has worked on multiple projects elsewhere in Nevada, Yuba & Sierra counties through his affiliation with local IMBA branch Bicyclists of Nevada County (BONC) & others sponsored by area trail advocacy groups; Forest Trails Alliance & The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship.
In his acceptance speech Liam noted, "What mountain biking has taught me is that you is they; I'd ride with people who would say 'something is wrong with this trail they need to fix it'. But you is they in mountain biking so you need to figure out how to do it and do it, don't say someone else should".

The award, sponsored by REI, was presented at the 6th annual NICA Awards Banquet at league sponsor Cliff Bar headquarters in Emeryville on Saturday January 30th. The Nevada Union Miners begin the 2016 Mountain Bike Racing season Sunday March 6th at Fort Ord in Monterey.
