This overturned tree has blocked the Pioneer Express Trail in the vicinity of Milepost 51 to 52, several miles north of Avery Pond, and about one-half mile south of Cardiac Hill.
Gold Fields Maintenance Chief Brian Moses, California Department of Parks and Recreation, announced on Friday, March 14, that he has retained a crew of one dozen maintenance workers and members from the California Conservation Corps to begin work on on the removal of this tree and repair of the trail. Work is to start on Monday, March 20 and to be completed by the end of the week, Friday, March 24 so the trail will be repaired and ready for the American River 50 endurance run on April 1, 2017.
