1/10/2022 UPDATE
The crews have cleared the Penn Gate Equestrian Staging and there is room to park there. Here is a hiker's note from today:
"Walked Hardrock to the fork to the right onto Osborne Loop Crosscut Trailthat then joins the Osborne Hill Trail. Then the Osborne Inner
Loop/Crosscut Trail and up to Betsy Mine, down the Osborne Hill Rd trail
and Prescott Mine trail. Heading downhill -- if turning left to the
Prescott Mine Crosscut trail there is a very big pine crossing the road.
Dogs and I could get over and maybe an athletic horse. Could bypass with some bush-wacking. At the bottom of the
hill, turning left to head back to Penn Gate, another really large pine
crossing & covering the road. This one could be difficult.
To sum up, footing is good with only a few places with snow remaining."

Posted Jan. 8, 2022: This photo is of the wooden bridge over Little Wolf Creek at Empire Mine.
There are reports from walkers and riders in Empire Mine SHP that several of the trails are still blocked by downed trees from the severe storm on December 27th.
Please be careful as weakened trees are still coming down.
