Last week, Bob Gage of Back Country Horsemen-Sutter Buttes Unit gave horse folks the good news that Plumas National Forest will be providing free camping after Labor Day holiday through the end of September to have horse camping on a trial basis at White Horse Camp at Bucks Lake.
On the BCH Facebook page this morning, Marlene Rold-Grubbs posted this update, "FYI Update on horse camp. The Forest Service has Decided to keep the Camp Host during the trial period at the horse camp. Therefore they made some changes ... sorry to say but they Will Be Charging a Daily camping Fee $23. Because the camp host is there the water will be left on until the end of Septembeer when they plan to close Whitehorse Campground.. sorry to report this it is not what they had told us earlier."
This is still a wonderful place to go and the horses are welcome for the first time in this area. Bob Gage has trail maps, road information. Please email Bob Gage with BCH with any questions regarding White Horse Campground.
