For many months out of the year, the beach trail (or lower trail) that parallels the Pioneer Express National Trail in Folsom Lake SRA, is partially under water. This month and until the rains, the trail is completely clear and open. It is delightful to enjoy the breezes off the lake, the beaches and some of the beautiful cultural artifacts along this trail, including the 1854 North Fork Ditch and rock dams.

This trail is open to hikers, horses and mt. bikers, although to access it, mt. bike riders must come from the Granite Bay side so for safety, they stay off the Pioneer Express Trail. Mt. bikers be aware there is deep sand on about 1/3rd of this trail and you may have to walk your bikes there.
